POLARIS DANCE THEATRE presents – Avalanche – November 2nd-11th
Join us as Artisitc Director, Robert Guitron dissects the poetry of Prince, David Bowie and Leonard Cohen in his newest original dance work, AVALANCHE. Guitron disturbs ideas of conventional identity and cultural concepts, finding a common thread in the timeless storytelling of these late artists. Using his own artistry through movement to grapple with the irony of their messages, he discovers the power of art can withstand generations and the complexities of the human spirit.

I loved it!
I’ve been looking for a contemporary dance company since I moved to Portland, as I love the medium, and was more than impressed with Polaris. The choreography, music and, of course, dancers were stellar. I was completely mesmerized with the performances. I also appreciated the introduction at the head of the evening from Robert, one of the founders of the troupe. A little background on the history of Polaris had me feeling like a participant and not so much as simply an audience member.
Excellent creative performers, I highly recommend the show. Process with gold star very smooth, though I don’t understand why there is such a high ticket fee per ticket as opposed to per purchase.
We were wowed. Very talented dancers and a phenomenal program that was captivating. A true gem in the arts and theatre scene of Portland.
