Polaris Dance Company Apprentice
Jasmin Trotter began her dance training at Jill Johnson’s Dance Studio in Santa Paula, CA, where she took ballet, tap, jazz, modern dance classes. At the age of 15 she joined Oakley Ballet Center in Camarillo where she focused in classical ballet under the direction of Kirsten Oakley. With Oakley’s performing company Footworks Youth Ballet, Jasmin danced soloist roles in Sleeping Beauty, Paquita, and The Nutcracker. Jasmin attended Summer Intensive Programs with American Ballet Theater, Princeton Dance and Theater Studio, and Boston Ballet. She went on to study dance at University of California, Berkeley, where she performed in showcases with the Dance and Performance Studies department and taught beginning ballet through the Physical Education department. In 2015 Jasmin graduated with Highest Honors with a BA Interdisciplinary American Studies with an area of concentration in Gender and Dance. After she graduated from Berkeley she founded Ballet Body by Jasmin, a ballet program for adults. Jasmin is passionate about teaching ballet and finds it rewarding to watch her students grow and get stronger through her class. Jasmin moved to Portland last year and she is thrilled to be a part of Polaris Dance Theater for the 2017-2018 season.
