June 2017 will kick off our 2nd annual Tiny Toes Camp. Camp at Polaris is designed for students ages 3-5, and is a great way for kid’s to have fun while sampling all that Polaris Dance Theatre has to offer. A typical day at Tiny Toes Camp includes 2 dance classes of multiple disciplines including Ballet, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Aerial, and more! Students also have the opportunity to express their own creativity through improv classes, games and a daily art project.
June 2017 will kick off our 9th annual Kids Dance Camp. Kids Camp at Polaris is designed for students ages 6-12 and offers a full or half day experience, Monday through Friday. Camp is a great way for kids to have fun while sampling all that Polaris Dance Theatre has to offer. A typical day at Kids Camp includes several dances classes of multiple disciplines including Ballet, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Aerial, Tap classes and more! Students also have the opportunity to express their own creativity through improv classes, games and a daily art project. End of camp performances will take place every Friday!
This summer program runs Mon – Fri, July 10 – 21, 2017 and is designed for the intermediate dancer who aspires to continue their diverse dance education and is interested in attending summer dance intensives in the future. Springboard will polish technical skills in the areas of Contemporary, Ballet, Hip Hop, Tap, Aerial and more. Finale performance on July TBD.
Our outstanding faculty has designed this program to specifically work with advanced pre-professional and professional dancers ages 14+ to help strengthen and hone existing skills and technique in multiple disciplines of dance challenging and preparing participants both physically and mentally for a career in dance.

SUMMER ADVANCED DANCE LAB is designed to help dancers to refine their instrument through multiple avenues of dance disciplines led by professional dancers and instructors with multi-years experience in their fields. This collection of master classes during the intensive will include Ballet, Horton, Graham, Limon/release technique, floor work, aerial, classical, contemporary partnering and improvisational concepts. The lab experience will help put into practice real world concepts and principles of advanced tools and techniques that are very seldom taught or discussed in dance classes due to time constraints and other various reasons. Instructors will take an in-depth look at the kinetic, organic and non-organic movement principles with in these various techniques and movement styles.
The Saturday Summer Session offers a multitude of fun, creative, and engaging disciplines of dance, taught by the professional dance instructors at Polaris. Enrollment is available for all classes except for Adult Open Contemporary, drop-ins are welcome for all classes. There will be no class on August 5th, but you’re welcome to join us for free classes and performance at Galaxy Dance Festival in Director Park!
Polaris Dance Theatre’s annual outdoor summer dance festival returns for its 7th year, and we can’t wait for you to participate in this year’s free events! In 2016, over 1,500 people attended this much-anticipated event. Join us August 3-5, 2017 at Simon & Helen Director Park in downtown Portland as we host an array of Portland-area dance companies in this 3-day community gathering, including free classes and performances for the whole family!
