Provided here is current information on what different organizations are offering during this time to help keep our community dancing.

We are all in this together.

Now more than ever we need to connect, we need to take care of each other, we need to move our bodies,
we need to reach out to those in isolation, we need to be around when this storm has passed.

Take a look at these organizations and try something new!

A-WOL DANCE COLLECTIVE

A-WOL Dance Collective is a 501(c)3 organization with a mission to embody the notion of “aerial without limits” through presentation of world class performances and educational opportunities that defy expectation, ignite inspiration, and foster creativity.

Currently, A-WOL is live-streaming donation based classes classes each day through YouTube. You can find their weekly offerings here: http://www.awoldance.org/events/2020livestream. Dance, condition, and stretch at home with A-WOL instructors.

CLASSICAL BALLET ACADEMY

Classical Ballet Academy of SE Portland is offering interactive virtual dance classes for the month of April. Their offerings include classes for 3 years old through adult.

A set schedule of classes allow dancers to stay connected, stay active, and have something to look forward to during this time of social distancing. Join Classical Ballet Academy for free, or help them stay afloat by giving a donation. Email director@classicalballet.net for more information. Their hope is that we can all keep dancing, even in small spaces!

DERRELL SEKOU SOUMAH WALKER

Derrell Sekou Soumah Walker is offering West African Dance online Tuesday, April 21 & 28 at 6:00pm PDT or 8pm CDT. 1 class is a sliding scale of $10-$15.

POLARIS DANCE THEATRE

THROUGH DANCE, WE AWAKEN THE HEART AND ENHANCE OUR HUMANITY.

Polaris Dance Theatre is a professional dance organization that believes that dance should be accessible, inclusive, equitable and diverse. Polaris Dance Theatre promotes inclusivity and accessibility while creating opportunities that cultivate connections in our community. Our belief is that everyone and every “Body” should have accessibility to dance, regardless of socioeconomic background, age, race, gender, identity, and physical or mental ability. Over the years we have passionately and devotedly built a community based on these beliefs. Our motivation comes from the desire to make the experience and expression of dance, and dance education, fully accessible to ALL. Please come dance with us!

Currently, we are offering live streaming classes through Zoom + a select number of classes through Facebook Live. All enrolled students are suggested to take as many classes as they’d like. If you are not a prepaid student, please consider an online donation per class.

STEPS PDX

STEPS PDX is a dance studio located in SE Portland, Oregon. Their mission is to educate, inspire, and enrich lives through dance.

Currently, STEPS PDX is offering $5 (sliding scale) online classes in Ballet, Contemporary, Hip-Hop, House, and Pilates. These classes are live streamed through Zoom and IG Live (@stepspdx). THE PORTLAND BALLET

The Portland Ballet is a local ballet studio that offers a rigorous ballet training program and open ballet classes.

Currently, they are holding Open Ballet classes through Zoom on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 10:00am. On Sunday they are offering an Adult Beginning Ballet class at 11:00am.
